- It tastes very earthy, how do I tone it down?
- With more lemon juice or ginger. The acids and the heat suppress the perception of the geosmin taste.
Vibrant beetroot, carrot & apple juice
The taste of the earth in a glass. The 'earthy' character of raw beetroot (caused by the compound geosmin) is harmonised by the sweetness of the carrot and the acidity of the apple. This juice is a true nitrate bomb, which converts to nitric oxide in the body to help circulation – it's a favourite of athletes for a reason.

Instructions
1
✓
Peel the beetroot, carrots, and ginger. Core the apple.
Tip: Although the skin has many vitamins, beetroot skin can add a bitter aftertaste, so it's better to peel it for juice.
2
✓
Cut the vegetables into pieces that fit into the juicer's feed chute.
3
✓
Juice alternately: carrot, beetroot, ginger, apple, lemon.
Tip: The harder vegetables (carrot) help push the softer ones through the machine. Leave the lemon for the end to wash through the flavours.
4
✓
Stir and drink immediately.
Tip: Oxidation (contact with air) begins to break down vitamins and brown the juice within minutes.
